We’re calling them Pulse Events.

In surveys and in everyday conversations, our members told us that they were looking for more opportunities to connect—with NCRP, to new resources, and with each other.

One of the ideas that emerged was a webinar series. We take out the travel costs, the long panel discussions in hotel ballrooms with uncomfortable seating, and the iced-tea-and-rubber-chicken-dinners. And we give you great resources—from the comfort of your home or office—because, amid the rising needs of our constituents, the intense demands on our time, and scarce financial resources, that’s the kind of series we could all really use.

(Plus, I finally get to use one of those slick headsets I’ve always wanted).

Our Pulse Events philosophy is simple:

  • Member-driven: Pulse Events are events of, by, and for our membership. Members’ suggestions guide the content and choice of presenters. NCRP staff and members lead the sessions. And it’s a brand-new benefit for NCRP members and supporters. If you’re a member, each month brings a new candid conversation at the heart of responsive philanthropy. If you’re not yet a member, join us and join the conversation.
  • Convenient: We do our best to keep things to one online hour. No doubt the best conversations always spill over, but we know that your time is precious, and so we’ll do our best to keep our sessions moving and keep the technology user-friendly.
  • Unique: Our supporters look to us for the vital perspective we provide as the sector’s only independent watchdog. Webinars abound, so we know our Pulse Events have to bring something a little different and they will. Expect topics that explore—and presenters who champion—a fair, just and democratic society and a philanthropic sector at its best. We hope you’ll join us.

Next week brings the first in the series. Our Executive Director, Aaron Dorfman, will revisit Criteria for Philanthropy at Its Best, which we released just one year ago. Criteria reignited conversations on ethics, effectiveness, accountability, diversity and inclusiveness in our field. What’s happened since then? And what’s next for NCRP, our members, and our field? It’s the next of many opportunities to hear the latest, chat with NCRP staff, and hear from other members.

Become a member of NCRP. Register now!

Kevin Laskowski is Field Associate at the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) and one of the series’ moderators.
